No. Just come as you are. All the clothing and equipment you need is provided for your convenience, so you can simply show up and leave after you are done. If you prefer to have your own conduction liner suit, they are available for purchase. Otherwise, you can rent them for a small fee just like you’d rent a yoga mat, climbing shoes or similar exercise equipment. You may choose to wear athletic shoes or not wear shoes at all.
No. You may experience the sensations as buzzing, and you may also feel your muscles contract. Your trainer will customize your settings to your comfort level allowing you to work with whatever intensity feels the best for you.
As with any form of exercise, consistency is best for the optimal results. We highly recommend 1 session per week especially if you are not doing any other form of workout, but skipping a week is not harmful and will not take away the benefits of your sessions. You will workout your muscles and burn calories in every single session, but consistency will provide you the best results. The maximum number of sessions you can do is 2 per week (minimum 4 days apart).

Although, whole-body EMS training with Miha Bodytec is scientifically shown to strengthen muscle and reduce fat, research continues to look for the exact mechanism of how this occurs. A large part of the fat reduction is likely due to the increase in metabolism that Miha Bodytec produces for several days following a session (“afterburn”) and long-term as you gain more muscle. When you increase your metabolism, you will burn more energy with everything you do, and your fat gets used up as fuel.

Like with any other workout, it is not recommended to have a heavy meal just before. A light meal or snack will be ok. Hydration is highly encouraged before and after your session to maximize the benefits you receive. It is recommended that you drink 16 oz. of water before your session. Most clients feel very hungry and thirsty after finishing their session, and many are hungry for several days following due to the amount of muscle activity they’ve had and the “afterburn” of increased metabolism for several days to follow.
The calories burned will depend on the individual and varies due to differing amounts of workout intensity, muscle masses, metabolisms and other factors. However, most people can easily burn over 600 calories per session. Additionally, the “afterburn” effect due to your increased metabolism for several days following your training session will also continue to burn more calories.
Yes, Miha Bodytec and Whole-Body Electromyostimulation are a completely safe. Miha is an FDA cleared, medical device. There are however, other similar EMS devices on the market that are not medical grade and not as thoroughly tested and researched as Miha Bodytec. At Balanced Flow, we only adopt products that are thoroughly researched as safe and effective. As with any form of exercise, there are normal risks involved, but Miha can actually be much safer as no weights need to be use, no extreme movements need to be made and there is close attention and guidance from our medically trained movement experts throughout the entire session. Miha sessions are low impact but produce high outcomes.
The answer will depend on your specific condition. In many cases, Miha can help muscular pains and injuries improve with the proper guidance of our medical staff. It can also speed up recovery from surgery if applied properly. Miha is actually a great way to maintain muscle mass and activity while movement is limited or needs to be modified due to injury or after surgery. If you have an existing heart condition, you should be cleared by your cardiologist for Miha Bodytec and any other form of exercise prior to participating. Unfortunately, if you have a pacemaker or any other implanted electronic devices, you would not be a candidate for this service.
There is not enough research to determine if WB-EMS or Miha Bodytec is safe for pregnant women. It is not recommended for women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant.
